As a celebration of the 25th anniversary of Tactical Studies
Rules (1974-1999), TSR released a "collector's set" of some of the most
popular and best-selling D&D material.
Silver Anniversary Collector's Edition
Only 5,000 copies of this set were printed, and first offered at the 1999 GenCon convention (where many were sold, for $59.95 retail).
The boxed set contains the following reprints, which are identical to the originals aside from the addition of a TSR Silver logo to the lower cover:
D&D Basic Rulebook (Fifth print)
B2 Keep on the Borderlands (First print)
G1 Steading of the Hill Giant Chief (Third print)
G2 Glacial Rift of the Frost Giant Jarl (Fourth print)
G3 Hall of the Fire Giant King (Third print)
I6 Ravenloft (First print)
S2 White Plume Mountain (Third print)
The set also contains the following original items, available nowhere else:
Story of TSR, a 32-pg book outlining the history of TSR including an essay by Gary Gygax
- 8.5" x 11" art lithograph on cardstock by Jeff Easley (1,000 of these -- out the 5,000 total printed -- were signed and numbered by Jeff Easley. Sets that contain this signed print can be identified by a silver sticker on the outside of the box. Thanks to Curt Gould for this info)
None of the materials in the set were shrinkwrapped.
Contrary to rumor, none of the reprinted modules are missing any artwork,
nor does the set include any kind of button. Also of interest: the
original layout negatives of the modules were not available for the reprint,
so TSR's graphic designers were forced to re-create the modules by hand
(with the aid of digital scanners, to be sure).

Unopened specimens of this set are becoming increasingly harder to come by, as many greedy sellers are removing the shrinkwrap in order to auction L3 Deep Dwarven Delve separately.
