Hi,

thought I'd start a thread where we could post those vaguely interesting Kickstarter projects that really dont deserve their own threads.

Theres this one, to start with:

The Future of Table Top Role Playing Games by Cosmic Compass Creations — Kickstarter

It does look interesting, but a bit expensive. Thoughts?

Cheers,
KAL

Their presentation was funny though...  :D

RPG’s, D&D in particular has had a major influence in my life. It’s bonded me together with life long friends...it’s that bond in life not just as friends, but in our jokes, our mannerisms, and what we find funny. Invincible Overlord

Shadows of Esteren : a medieval horror RPG

From what they're showing, this looks to become a beautiful book.

Dear God.

Republishing, Synnibarr: The original Scifi-Fantasy RPG. by Raven McCracken — Kickstarter

Sure, $55k in two weeks for this goofy game? No problem!  And the Project explanation reads like's it written by a mildly slow junior high kid. 8O

And (if you don't know the game/system) a description that is so vague and short, that you have no idea what it is.

I had that thought when I read the most convoluted and confusing tagline ever:

"Synnibarr is dedicated to the stifled adventurers within all of us. For we have the hearts and imaginations, but not the power or frontiers..."

Huh?

I think the Kickstarter is exactly what you would expect - completely delusional.  Just make stuff up to promote it:

"Having published the World of Synnibarr several times and capturing nearly 1% of the world market share."

Not even close.  Maybe he means that 1% of people who buy Synnibarr keep the books instead of burning the books and tearing out their eyes.

Hmmm.  In my experience, those Synnibarr fans are pretty enthusiastic.

You see them crowded around their store in the mall all the time.  Those things are just crusted with sugar and Synnamonn.

Synnibarr actually had its genesis here in the Northwest.  The original publisher was "Wonderworld," which was a long-time brick and mortar store in Burien, Washington.   I used to buy miniatures and old DRAGON magazines there.  Originally a large clubhouse for local gamers, Wonderworld slowly filled up their store space with product from other Seattle game stores...bought up as each one went defunct.  Then their rent went up and they relocated to a garage. (Apparently, a large garage.)  Wonderworld still exists as an Ebay seller.  At the rate they're posting items they should have sold all their old inventory by 2512.

I'm figuring there must be at least a dozen hardcore Synnibarr fans.  With a $4500 buy-in apiece, they might get the game off the ground again.

OpenQuest (a version of Runequest/BRP) has an indiegogo campaign for a second edition. Initial target has already been met  It looks like good value as you can get the supplements as well. I thought I would post it up here in case anyone was interested:

I backed this one by Mike Nystul. It has a boxed set now which I always think is the ultimate in old-school awesomeness.
