I can't believe this actually sold at that price after only a couple months sitting there. I don't understand buyers...Do you think NKG just buys their own stuff to make it look like it sells?

Well you might say that but I was thinking of this one:

http://diterlizzi.com/home/wp-content/u ... uction.jpg

There was another with an odd listing title that went *almost* unnoticed that sold for $135 withing the last six months. It really is the owlbear figure that is so hard to find.

Now I can stop wading through the thousands of plastic critter listings!

That would be pointless, and a waste of money.  I don't think they would do something like that.  My guess is that someone made them an offer through their store and they closed the auction.  A lot of items are listed on eBay and their store.  The auction closed, it didn't necessarily close due to it selling for that price.

Yea I was being a tad bit facetious there. In any event you can't close an auction on eBay and have it show as sold in the completed items section.

This one has me a bit stumped but I am thinking it is simply a case of uninformed bidders:

** expired/removed eBay auction **

There are a couple original items and the basic box looks nice but all the other modules are simply printed up PDFs that are available for free.  You can buy the prints for about $7 each if you don't want to use the PDFs.

Well, the seller has to be pleased.  He clearly states that they are reprints in his description.  That's just craziness.

That, or an untapped market for lazy people who don't want to print up their own PDFs. Sheese, maybe I need to look into this avenue for making bucks...

Still crazy but those reprints do look like the prints you can actually buy like Mars mentioned not just a PDF print off an inkjet. Supposedly those reprints are unofficially authorized by wotc assuming no profit is made. I guess the price on lulu.com just covers printing the book?

Closed early would show as "no longer available", etc. It's easy enough to cross-check the "bidding" history if you generate the right link, treating that sale as though it were an auction. (Zero-rated buyer to disguise their identity? ;p)
Code:
=> http://offer.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBids&item=13143296649 1

(edit: remove the space between the "9" and the "1" as the board interprets that as an ebay auction and pulls up the preview, even when the link is encased in [code] markup tags :))

I haven't bought from NK off of ebay. Do they have automatic feedback replies for buyers once a buyer completes a purchase?

I saw that listing when it first came up and thought it was stupidly priced but I didn't follow the auction. I didn't realize you could buy the PDFs via printed-on-demand (which makes sense). And when I look around, it seems the PDFs are FREE..so saying that they are "reprints" seems like a false description if the PDFs are free downloads to be printed at the buyer's discretion.

this isn't over-the-top outrageously priced, but it's still silly for the condition ... heavy cover wear, duct tape and tearing

I love this quote from the seller

Price discounted in acknowledgment of condition

Acaeum member? Wasn't someone asking about lots of shrink stuff in the recent past?

looking through the item description there were 13 "sealed", 1 shrink wrap falling off, and then the rest

Do we have a separate thread for understatements?
