Brian2112 wrote in Old Candidates: Silliest Auction Prices of the Year:Watch the FB groups. Roleplaying Games Trade Sell on FB isn't too bad, but the moderator has an itchy trigger finger on the 'ban hammer'. They forbid any comments on price and just go with the "don't buy it if the price is too high" strategy. Of course this leads to more people pricing stuff higher and artificial inflation of items because of what people see in the listings. I cringe when someone says "I want X $$ and I know it's worth it because I checked eBay". A good example is a listing about a few months ago for the 5E spell cards from GF9. As you may be aware, they were OOP while GF9 worked with WotC to correct some errors on the cards. Of course this led to "OMG...They are out of print and are worth a fortune" and some guy posted a "complete set" for $200. People politely posted hints that they are OOP, but GF9 said it's only temporary and they will all be reprinted. He didn't take the hint. When someone showed interest, I wanted to scream "no you fool, these are not collectible, they are not OOP and they are not worth 3x retail". If I did, I would have been banned.

Have yet to find out, as neither admin has responded to my request to join :P Never a good sign in my mind to have such a closed community. Oh well!

Some seller had one of the 80's Dungeons and Dragons games by Mattel. Box was in so-so shape, contents were excellent. His buyout (BIN) price was $150.Someone had bid it up to $80 with a few days left before ending. I personally thought it was too high. Scouring ebay I found several with similar or better contents and much better boxes from quite a bit less to a little less.Today, at least I think it was today, someone had a OCE white box in shrink for $1000 or more and a 2nd edition Chainmail for $800? maybe $600. might be a member here selling them. dunno. i personally wouldn't pay that much, but I'm cheap. a bad thing to be in this hobby I suppose. just my 2 cents
